The late and missed Leon "Buz" White was born in Corvallis Oregon in 1933. He was the founder of this company. His nickname was given to him because he had a lot of energy as a child and he liked to "buzz around". So the nickname stuck. Buz had an entrepreneurial spirit at an early age with his own paper route. In 1955 he met his wife Carol in Massachusetts and they later had their first of 5 children, Gary White. A few years later Buz graduated from the Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls with a degree in graphic design. 

In 1961, with the assistance of his wife Carol, Buz started a sign company out of his garage in Metzger, Oregon. One of the company's first jobs was for Mark Hatfield who was running for governor or Oregon.
